Another Dream Achieved

After my divorce, I decided I wanted to see the 30 MLB ball stadiums and hike at National Parks along the journey to 30. If you’ve been watching my adventures, you know I have marked off A LOT of those dreams.
One thing I’ve wanted to add to my experience is a teardrop camper. For one reason or another, dropping the money for one hasn’t been on the top of my list. After retiring and only having a teacher’s pension consistently, I have put my all into real estate. Thankfully, I’ve done amazingly well and will continue to work hard, but I felt like this purchase was a huge splurge that was for “sometime later.”
Well, “later” came yesterday. I found this little jewel on FaceBook Picture of Kathy Paul with her new FreeSolo camperMarketplace and took my dad to help me check it out. It was used for a year by a couple-well the wife hated it, so his dreams came to an end quickly. So it seems like a brand new camper at a used price. Win-win.
We brought it home after some driving lessons and practicing setting it up and tearing it down. (Not much to do, honestly.)
I have “played” since bringing it home!
I pulled out the camping themed quilt I made years ago for my “one day” camper. I have designed some vinyl quotes and images to add some fun personalization to the inside and out. I ordered cute camping sheets and a few essential lights, locks, and levelers.
To say I’m excited is a given, but I’m also proud of myself. Proud of myself for turning the lemons I was handed into lemonade. Proud of myself for not giving up. Proud of myself for finding the real me again, and following MY dreams.
I am healing. I have healed a lot in the past couple of years. That scab of divorce and betrayal will always be there, but I am stronger than I knew. And for that, I am thankful to those of you who’ve had my back all this time. True friends and family have gotten me here with their love, support, and prayers.
As Mel Robbins says about those who aren’t true friends and family… “Let them.” I’ve decided that those who choose to not be here for and with me…”let them” choose others. For those who don’t want to be at my table, “let them” sit elsewhere.
For those who do choose me, thank you.
NOW….
If you have favorite camping spots, let me know. If you want to join us, bring your hammock or tent and come along! (Sorry, but this little camper is little. Only sleeps 2.) I have started making plans for weekend adventures with some sweet little boys in my life as well as Fender and myself.
